Not a huge problem now (and I believe the XBO version is even better) but it was annoying at launch.

Lost Odyssey - The X360 system upgrade that allowed you to install games to your hard drive for improved load times benefited this game tremendously.
FALLOUT NEW VEGAS PC LOADING FOREVER PATCH
They did patch some improvements which made them more bearable but still poor. At least, it's just once per stage (no doubt, because the game is generating the stage layout).īloodborne - The load times are worse because they're triggered when you die which for most people happens frequently. Silent Hill: Book of Memories - I actually like this game more than most people but the load times to start a new stage are really long.
I enjoyed what I played, but such a huge percent of the game is spent with load times that I gave up really quickly.

Wipeout Vita - These kinds of load times have no business being in a portable game. Figured it wasn't worth learning an all-new strategy game with such bad load times. Total War: Shogun 2 - Noped out of this almost immediately, thinking "I'll get back to this after I get a SSD." After I got a SSD, I tried it again and the load times were still really bad, although much improved. I'd rather have worse graphics & no or minimal load times than better graphics and bad load times. Both games are set to be available on PC and Xbox Series X|S, and neither have a date yet.Every game where they're noticeable. Obsidian is currently collaborating on The Outer Worlds 2, which was announced during E3 2021, out of Avowed. Prior to being acquired by Microsoft, Obsidian had been focusing on smaller projects such as Pillars of Eternity and Tyranny. The Best Games to Play on Xbox Series X|S16 IMAGESĪs it turns out, Avowed and The Outer Wilds will confirm Obsidian’s renewed push into the AAA RPG industry after a prolonged absence. Little has been revealed since Avowed was first announced back in July 2020, indicating that it is still a little early in its development process.
Obsidian, a direct descendant of Black Isle Studios, has been best known for its work on Fallout: New Vegas and Knights of the Old Republic 2, both which have become beloved classics over the years. According to the newspaper, Avowed would be in a playable state by E3 2022, but that date is currently unconfirmed.Īssuming it’s all correct, it appears that Avowed will be the sort of deep open world RPG that has been part of Obsidian’s efforts over the years. Obsidian is said to be making steady progress, though Avowed is reportedly still in pre-alpha and is not yet playable. According to the report, Avowed was compared to Skyrim and Oblivion, describing it as “undoubtedly Obsidian’s take on The Elder Scrolls.” It may go beyond the scope of destructible environments, with fire spells ending areas “coated in flames.” However, a new article by Windows Central appears to shed light on the project, revealing that it’s well into pre-production and will include “a lot of elements Pillars of Eternity fans are familiar with.”Īs well as creatures like the Xaurips, they would have included familiar spells like Jolting Touch and Fetid Caress. Avowed’s new first-person RPG from Obsidian, which is based in the Pillars of Eternity universe, has almost certainly no actual knowledge of the company.
